Next Course Date: 18 - 22 Jan, 2016
The Intermediate Series of the Ashtanga Vinyasa System has been called Nadi Shodhana, which is the cleaning of the channels for the internal breath. In order for it to have that wonderful effect we need to approach the asana practice with a contemplative understanding and a knowledge of the subtle art of mudra and bandha. Without this deeper understanding the practice of asana can lead to injury and a mechanical and even competitive approach.
In this 5-day intensive we will focus on the opening, exhilarating effect of the Intermediate Series and associated internal forms; practicing with a contemplative and internal emphasis. Guided morning asana practice will explore the postures and their subtle forms so that they remain grounded and meditative as well as expansive. We’ll study the subtle movements within the postures and those that connect to the postures, exploring alternatives, therapeutic applications and hands on adjustments. Afternoon sessions will also include chanting, meditation and the basics of pranayama and bandha practice.
